Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), one of the country’s biggest expressway operators, held a series of training seminars in partnership with UNICEF and the Ateneo Human Rights Center (AHRC) that focused on child rights and business principles.
The training, which included the participation of affiliates PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications, aimed to promote best practices across its operations, which include North Luzon Expressway and Cavite–Laguna Expressway.
AHRC led sessions covering the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, child labor, safe work environments for parents, and community impact assessments.
“We at MPTC know that protecting children’s rights is not just a legal obligation but a moral imperative,” said Cynthia Casiño, MPTC chief corporate governance and risk officer, and head of sustainability.
“We ensure that our corporate practices respect and manage operational impact on children in the workplace, marketplace, environment, and community,” she added.
