Globe reported a significant drop in bank-related spam and scam text messages due to its strong anti-fraud measures and partnerships with major financial institutions.

From January to June 2024, Globe intercepted 2,740,012 such messages, a 43.56 percent decrease from the 4,855,199 blocked texts during the same period in 2023, a statement on Friday showed.

This success follows anti-fraud agreements with the Bankers Association of the Philippines, covering 45 major banks and various finance sector players.

Meanwhile, Globe has invested approximately $20 million to improve its spam and scam SMS detection and blocking systems.

"Our collective efforts with the banking sector have significantly strengthened our fight against spam and scam SMS targeting depositors,” Anton Bonifacio, Globe’s chief information security officer and chief AI officer, said in the statement.

“By working together and sharing critical intelligence, combined with our enhanced detection and blocking systems, we can now better protect our customers from illegal activities,” he added.
