Insider Spotlight
That trend is reflected in PNB Makati Center's decision to add Salady Philippines to its tenant lineup. Through Philippine master franchisee Palette Passion Inc., Korea's biggest salad chain is expanding its local footprint with a branch scheduled to operate later this year on the ground floor of the Makati office development.
It will be Salady's first branch in Makati and its first location within an office development in the Philippines.
Why it matters
Office landlords are increasingly positioning their properties as destinations that combine work, dining, convenience, and community to improve tenant experience and attract more visitors.
The partnership was formalized through a ceremonial lease signing on July 29, attended by PNB Holdings Corp. president Karlu T. Say, PHC chief financial officer Ponciano S. Carreon Jr., Palette Passion Inc. president Arvin Pitao, and head of operations Austin Villamanca.
By the numbers
Salady has established a strong presence in South Korea with a menu centered on fresh salads, grain bowls, wraps, and protein-rich meals designed to offer convenient and affordable healthy food choices. The company has started expanding in the Philippines through its local master franchisee.
For PNB Holdings, adding the Korean brand aligns with broader shifts in consumer preferences, as commercial developments increasingly serve as lifestyle hubs rather than purely office spaces. The company expects the concept to appeal to office employees, nearby residents, and visitors looking for fresh meal options within Makati's central business district.
The bottom line
Salady is one of several new dining concepts expected to join PNB Makati Center in the coming months as the property continues to broaden its food and retail mix.
The addition illustrates how office developments are adapting their tenant strategies to meet changing consumer preferences while creating more vibrant commercial environments. —Vanessa Hidalgo| Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
