Under a newly signed memorandum of agreement, 16 company-owned stores in Taguig across Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, and Burger King will participate in the initiative. Each store is expected to engage two senior citizens and one PWD, primarily in customer-facing roles.
The expansion forms part of the company’s broader efforts to create meaningful employment opportunities for underserved sectors.
Since the program was launched in 2019, more than 1,000 senior citizens and PWDs have been employed through participating stores and partner local government units, according to a company release.
Why it matters
The partnership seeks to support senior citizens and PWDs who remain capable and willing to work, while recognizing their potential contribution to local economic and community development.
Under the arrangement, the Taguig City Government will assist in applicant screening, training, medical evaluation, and program promotion through several offices, including the Public Employment Services Office, City Health Office, Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, and Persons with Disability Affairs Office.
Meanwhile, the Jollibee Group will handle interviews, orientation, training, and onboarding requirements for qualified applicants, including facilitating payroll bank account openings.
The bigger picture
Participants may be assigned to lobby-based positions such as order presenters, drink drawers, table managers, and guest relations staff.
“This program is meaningful because it gives our senior citizens and persons with disabilities a chance to continue contributing in ways that are seen, valued, and respected,” Jollibee Group Philippines CEO and Jollibee Brand global head Joseph Tanbuntiong said.
“At the Jollibee Group, we believe that our growth should also create opportunities for people in the communities we serve. Through partnerships like this with Taguig City, we can open more spaces where people can feel productive, connected, and part of something bigger,” he added.
The initiative aligns with the company’s broader sustainability agenda focused on inclusive employment and community impact.
“Work can give people more than income. It can give confidence, friendship, and a renewed sense of purpose,” Jollibee Group Philippines chief HR officer and Jollibee Brand Global HR head Ruth Angeles said.
“That is why this program matters to us. It reminds us that inclusion is not just a policy or a program. It is something we make real when we welcome people into our teams, support them in their roles, and recognize the value they bring every day.” —Princess Daisy C. Ominga| Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
