Metro Pacific Health (MPH) celebrated its Third Soledad Velez-Pangilinan Nursing Excellence Award (SVP-NEA) on Oct. 20 at Shangri-La The Fort, shining a spotlight on the exceptional contributions of Filipino nurses across its hospital network.

The annual recognition honors nurses who exemplify compassion, leadership, and innovation in the pursuit of quality healthcare—values that echo the legacy of Soledad Velez-Pangilinan, the award’s namesake and inspiration.

The big picture

The event brought together healthcare executives and nursing leaders, with Dr. Harish Pillai, MPH Group CEO, emphasizing the award’s deeper meaning. 

The ceremony also highlighted the values that the award upholds—excellence, compassion, and leadership in care.

“Among all his companies, the one dearest to MVP’s heart is the health portfolio—Metro Pacific Health... It shows that our leadership has placed the focus where it truly matters—on all of you,” the MPH Group said in a press release. 

Representing the Pangilinan family, Mitzi Therese Borromeo Pangilinan delivered a heartfelt tribute: “When we say Metro Pacific Health is the heart of Philippine healthcare, we speak of you—the nurses who keep that heart beating steady and strong.”

The Soledad Velez-Pangilinan Nursing Excellence Award, named in honor of the mother of Metro Pacific Health chair Manuel V. Pangilinan, continues to celebrate the compassion and professionalism of Filipino nurses who embody her legacy of care.
