Insider Spotlight

  • TCL Philippines built a direct pipeline from technical training to real jobs
  • The TCL-Tesda Training Center aligns industry demand with workforce readiness
  • The program positions private-sector collaboration as a solution to skills mismatch

As the Philippines faces a persistent mismatch between technical education and industry needs, companies that actively design workforce-ready pathways are gaining an edge—not just in talent, but in trust. TCL Philippines is one of them.

The big picture

Rather than waiting for skilled technicians to emerge, TCL partnered with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) to shape them.

The result is the TCL-Tesda Training Center, a facility built around a structured enrollment-to-employment pathway that prepares students for immediate absorption into the workforce.

What’s happening

The program trains students in advanced air-conditioning systems using TCL equipment, with direct mentorship from company experts.

Graduates are funneled into certification and employment opportunities within TCL’s own service ecosystem—shortening the distance between classroom learning and real-world application.

This approach earned national recognition at the 61st Anvil Awards, where the TCL-Tesda Air Conditioning Training Program received a Gold Anvil for Public Relations Program on Corporate Responsibility and Good Governance, along with a Silver Anvil for Government Relations.

What they’re saying

“We are beyond honored to be recognized by the PRSP. Bringing home not just one, but four Anvil awards is a monumental achievement for us. We are absolutely grateful, yet deeply humbled to be among this year's top-tier honorees,”  TCL brand manager Joseph Cerntichez said in a press statement.

“These awards inspire us to continue pushing boundaries, to innovate boldly, and to deliver initiatives that make a meaningful impact on our customers and communities,” he said

Between the lines

While many corporate training programs stop at skills development, TCL’s model goes further—embedding employability into the design.

By aligning Tesda certification, hands-on training, and service network placement, the company reduces friction for both graduates and employers.

Context

The Anvil Awards, organized by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines, are the country’s benchmark for excellence in strategic communication and impact-driven programs. TCL’s wins marked its first appearance at the awards, signaling a broader shift in how the brand integrates social impact with business strategy .

What’s next

TCL Philippines says the training center reflects a longer-term roadmap centered on technical leadership and collaborative industry progress, reinforcing its goal to strengthen the Filipino workforce while sustaining brand growth.

Bottom line

In an economy where job readiness is as critical as job creation, TCL’s enrollment-to-employment pathway offers a replicable blueprint—one that turns training into opportunity and partnership into measurable impact. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
