Insider Spotlight

  • KonekBuhay enters the Philippine market with an AI-powered recruitment platform
  • The startup targets inefficiencies in blue-collar hiring workflows
  • Tools focus on faster screening, centralized tracking, and digital resumes
  • Founders say the platform supports recruiters without replacing human judgment

Blue-collar hiring in the Philippines is poised for a shift as companies grapple with rising demand for skilled labor and persistent inefficiencies in recruitment. Many employers still rely on fragmented, manual systems that slow down hiring and reduce productivity across operations.

KonekBuhay, a newly launched AI-powered recruitment platform, is positioning itself as a solution to these long-standing challenges.

Designed specifically for recruiters and employers hiring blue-collar workers, the platform aims to centralize and structure recruitment processes that are often spread across spreadsheets, messaging apps, and paper-based systems.

Why it matters

Blue-collar workers form the backbone of industries such as construction, logistics, manufacturing, and services. Yet hiring practices for these roles have lagged behind more digitized white-collar recruitment, creating bottlenecks for both employers and job seekers. Streamlining this process could help companies fill roles faster while improving access to employment.

KonekBuhay’s platform brings recruitment into a single AI-powered system, helping recruiters cut down time spent on repetitive tasks and improve how candidates are screened and matched.

According to the company, this approach allows hiring teams to be more intentional and data-driven in selecting talent.

“Blue-collar workers are critical to business operations, yet they’re still hired through outdated methods and systems. KonekBuhay is here to uplift these workers by giving them better access to opportunities and better jobs, while helping recruiters become more productive and intentional in how they hire people,” said Emman Dela Cruz, CEO and co-founder of KonekBuhay.

How it works

For recruiters, the platform offers a Candidate Tracking System that consolidates applicants across multiple job openings into a single dashboard. This replaces manual trackers and provides clearer visibility into each stage of the hiring pipeline.

On the applicant side, KonekBuhay’s Smart Resume feature creates a live digital profile that stays consistent and updated across job submissions, the company said in a statement.

AI technology underpins several functions, including resume parsing, candidate filtering, basic validation, and reporting, all designed to make hiring smoother and faster.

“The use of AI in KonekBuhay is here to make hiring smoother, not replace people. It takes care of repetitive tasks like screening and filtering, so recruiters can focus on talking to the right candidates, and applicants can move faster into getting jobs,” said Gerwin Fricke, product lead and co-founder of KonekBuhay.

What’s next

KonekBuhay has begun onboarding recruiters and companies nationwide as it looks to scale adoption. Organizations interested in improving their hiring processes can learn more through the company’s website and social media channels. —Princess Daisy C. Ominga | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
