Tycoon Ramon Ang-led SMC beats global firms in CSR, sustainability awards

San Miguel Corp. (SMC) has clinched top global awards for corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability reporting at the 2025 Global Good Governance (3G) Awards in Brunei.

The prestigious UK-based Cambridge IFA recognized SMC with two major honors: the 3G Leadership Award in CSR and the 3G Best Sustainability Reporting Award.

SMC beat other global nominees following a months-long vetting process that reviewed alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals, community impact, innovation, and transparency.

“To be counted among a distinguished line-up of globally recognized and successful companies is an honor. We thank Cambridge IFA behind the Global Good Governance Awards. As a company, we have also worked to grow not just in scale, but also in purpose — to be a force for good and help in nation-building,” said SMC chair and CEO Ramon S. Ang

The CSR award cited SMC’s leadership in high-impact community programs, while the sustainability prize recognized its detailed disclosures on environmental and social practices.

The 3G Awards, now in its 10th year, are judged by experts from government, academia, and business sectors.

The recognition positions SMC alongside global sustainability leaders across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.

It also affirms SMC’s drive to embed environmental and social governance (ESG) in its long-term strategy—from disaster response to food security and livelihood.
