The integrated property giant said it plans to install at least 50 more EV charging stations by the end of this year, reinforcing its commitment to clean mobility and green infrastructure.
The charging stations are strategically located in SM malls and office developments, with future rollouts planned for its residential and leisure estates.
“Integrating sustainable practices into our operations is a core part of SM Prime’s long-term strategy,” said Jeffrey C. Lim, SM Prime president. “Through this initiative, we are also supporting the government’s vision for an inclusive and future-ready EV ecosystem.”
“We are focused on making sustainability practical and accessible. Expanding our EV charging network is one way we are enabling Filipinos to adopt greener habits as part of daily life,” Lim added.
This aligns with the DOE’s roadmap to reach a 25-percent EV share in the passenger vehicle market by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040, the company said.
SM Prime is accredited by the Department of Energy (DOE) as an Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) Provider-Operator, ensuring that its facilities meet national safety standards.
By investing in clean transport infrastructure, SM Prime is helping reduce carbon emissions and build climate-resilient communities. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
