The Philippine Stock Exchange Inc. (PSE) and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) have signed a memorandum of understanding to launch joint programs that will empower overseas Filipinos to participate in the Philippine capital markets.

The agreement, formalized on June 17, 2025, during the CFO’s 45th anniversary celebration, aims to bridge the gap between the stock exchange and overseas Filipinos, who currently account for less than one percent of retail investors.

“By partnering with CFO, PSE will now be able to reach Filipinos who have migrated overseas – specifically those who are permanent residents abroad, including their immediate family members,” said PSE President and CEO Ramon S. Monzon at the signing ceremony.

As part of the initiative, the PSE will lead learning sessions and information campaigns, showcasing its PSE Academy, digital tools, and platforms for market data, disclosures, and IPO participation.

Monzon expressed optimism that the partnership would boost the financial literacy and economic resilience of Filipinos abroad. “I hope PSE and CFO can amplify the shared mission of promoting the financial well-being of Filipinos across the globe,” he said. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
