Accessible via the Tesda Online Program at e-tesda.gov.ph, these modules aim to equip Filipinos with essential personal finance skills.
The first three of nine modules focus on the fundamentals of financial planning, budgeting and saving, and debt management. Tesda Director General Jose Francisco "Kiko" Benitez praised the collaboration during Financial Literacy Week, highlighting its role in building a financially savvy workforce.
“I hope our collaboration will not end with the three fin-ed modules that have been developed so far. Nagsisimula pa lang tayo [at] marami pa tayong gagawing online courses (This is just the beginning, there’s much more to do),” Benitez said.
The upcoming modules, now under development by the BSP and BDO Foundation, will cover topics such as investing basics, fraud and scam prevention, digital financial literacy, financial consumer protection, and economic indicators. These resources align with Tesda's goal of fostering financial empowerment among learners.
"By fostering financial responsibility, we ensure that our workforce is not only career-ready but also equipped to make sound financial decisions," said Atty. Charina De Vera-Yap, BSP managing director for financial inclusion and consumer empowerment.
The modules were initially introduced through the BSP E-Learning Academy (BELA), offering a comprehensive suite of financial education courses. Tesda is the first government agency to integrate these modules into its platform, broadening accessibility and impact.--Ed: CSN
