Global Dominion president and CEO Samuel Cariño and BFF president and CEO Carlo Sagun signed the partnership on Sept. 22. The collaboration will develop educational content for individuals and businesses under Global Dominion’s Ka-partner Academy.
Educating entrepreneurs
Access to capital alone may not be enough to build sustainable businesses. The partnership seeks to pair financing with financial literacy, entrepreneurship education and community support, particularly for micro, small and medium enterprises.
Ka-partner Academy is Global Dominion’s business development platform for borrowers, partners and the wider MSME market. It has expanded into content-driven campaigns designed to educate entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners through social media.
“We finance businesses, while BFF builds entrepreneurs. The Ka-partner Academy is where our missions converge,” Cariño said in a press statement.
“The next generation of Filipino business owners will learn that a ka-partner does not just give you a loan. A ka-partner helps you grow,” he added.
Democratizing financial education
BFF will bring its experience in entrepreneurship training and capacity building to the academy. The nonprofit operates through Bayan Academy, Bayan Innovation Group, Bayan SEARCH and Bayan EDGE, covering education, research, community development and impact investing.
"We are excited to contribute to the Ka-partner Academy," Sagun said. "Democratizing financial education cannot be done in just one way or through one format. It has to be multidimensional, multiformat, and collaborative, but always purposive, so that we reach more Filipino entrepreneurs and go deep enough to truly change, not only their businesses, but their lives. This is the same belief that guides every Bayan program, and it is what makes this partnership with Global Dominion a natural fit," he added.
Global Dominion, established in 2003, has grown to more than 170 branches and nearly 2,000 employees. Its financing products include real estate financing, car financing, doctors’ loans and secured business loans.
The partnership positions Ka-partner Academy as the meeting point between Global Dominion’s financing capabilities and BFF’s development expertise, with both organizations seeking to help Filipino entrepreneurs turn access to capital into sustainable business growth. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S.
