London-based Zodiac Maritime Limited, one of the world's largest ship operators, has committed to establishing a cadetship program at the University of Cebu–Maritime Education and Training Center (UC-METC).

The partnership with UC — the largest schools for seafarers in the Philippines — is meant for male cadets in the marine engineering and marine transportation fields.

This program highlights Zodiac Maritime's dedication to advancing maritime education and supporting a skilled workforce for the global shipping industry, UC said.

The collaboration aims to provide comprehensive training and development for future maritime professionals, enhancing their career prospects in the international maritime sector, it added.

The meeting included UC board of trustees chair Augusto Go, UC-METC's campus director Capt. Gerry Enjambre, maritime consultant Capt. Arnel N. Malaga, and other department heads.
