In a statement, TMP said this facility aims to promote environmental sustainability and proper waste management in the automotive industry by dismantling vehicles that have reached the end of their useful life.
The En Tsumugi project is a collaboration between local and Japanese companies, including Toyota and Tsuruoka Co., Ltd., and supported financially by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
En Tsumugi, which is open to dismantling vehicles of various makes, will serve as a model for further development of the local vehicle recycling industry.
The facility is part of the "Toyota Global 100 Dismantlers Project," a global initiative to establish ELV dismantlers in various countries.
TMP president Masando Hashimoto stated that the project aligns with Toyota’s commitment to building a recycling-based society under the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050.
En Tsumugi is the fourth Toyota-certified ELV facility in Southeast Asia, following similar projects in Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
The ELV dismantling process helps reduce pollution, conserve valuable resources, and lower greenhouse gas emissions. TMP has contributed to the facility by donating five vehicles, including a hybrid electric vehicle, for dismantling training.
The new facility aims to address environmental concerns surrounding vehicle disposal and pave the way for sustainable practices within the automotive industry in the Philippines. Toyota’s continuous support emphasizes the importance of creating a greener, more sustainable future.
The En Tsumugi facility is expected to be a benchmark for responsible automotive recycling in the region.
