BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang discussed the initiative with Capas Mayor Atty. Roseller “Boots” Rodriguez, pledging the allocation of a one-hectare land parcel within the emerging smart city.
The Department of Health (DOH) will fund the project, while the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will oversee the bidding and construction process.
Once completed, the health center will be operated and maintained by the Capas municipal government, furthering the collaborative goals of national and local agencies.
“This project strengthens our shared goal of making essential services more accessible to Filipinos. With the Capas municipal government funding the facility and BCDA providing the land, this health center will be a product of true public sector synergy,” said Bingcang.
The facility is expected to complement existing medical infrastructure in New Clark City, particularly the University of the Philippines–Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) Sports Medicine and Wellness Center, which currently offers basic medical and dental services and has future plans to expand into a 200-bed hospital.
The mega health center project aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, and Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. BCDA says the initiative reflects its mission to build smart, inclusive, and resilient communities through intergovernmental partnerships.
New Clark City is envisioned to be a modern, disaster-resilient metropolis in Central Luzon, housing government offices, athletic facilities, and mixed-use developments aimed at driving long-term national growth. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
