This collaboration underscores Maynilad’s commitment to ensuring the long-term safety and quality of its water services.
Although Maynilad’s water supply consistently adheres to the stringent Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water, the company acknowledges the need to anticipate future risks.
UP’s research will focus on identifying unregulated pollutants of concern globally and testing water systems to detect their presence locally.
“Maynilad strictly complies with national water quality standards, providing safe and reliable water to our customers,” said Maynilad chief sustainability officer Atty. Roel S. Espiritu in a statement. “This partnership allows us to explore advanced technologies and ensure that our treatment systems remain robust and adaptive to future challenges.”
The initiative will also aid Maynilad in developing cutting-edge treatment methods, such as UV photolysis and advanced oxidation. These methods are crucial for addressing potential emerging contaminants and supporting innovations such as "Direct Potable Reuse," aimed at enhancing water sustainability without compromising safety.
