In a statement on Sunday, April 20, 2025, the Metro Pacific Investments Corp.-controlled firm said the pipeline replacement projects covered key areas across Metro Manila, including Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Parañaque, Pasay, Makati, Quezon City, and Caloocan.
The affected pipelines were originally installed between 1986 and 2008, with diameters ranging from 50 millimeters (mm) to 700 mm.
The 2024 pipe replacement initiative has enabled the recovery of around 37 million liters per day (MLD) of potable water, which Maynilad estimates is sufficient to meet the daily needs of over 230,000 customers
“Rehabilitating our inherited pipeline network is central to our long-term water security strategy. By proactively upgrading old infrastructure, we are able to reduce losses, optimize supply, and deliver more consistent service to our customers,” said Maynilad president and CEO Ramoncito Fernandez.
Maynilad noted that since its re-privatization in 2007, it has replaced a total of 3,264 kilometers of pipelines, equivalent to about 70 percent of its inherited distribution network. The company added that the remaining segments include pipes dating back to the colonial era.
Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base.
It serves the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area under the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System’s (MWSS) concession. Its coverage includes several cities in Metro Manila and municipalities in Cavite province.
The pipeline rehabilitation effort forms part of the company’s broader infrastructure investment program to enhance long-term water supply security and service delivery in the growing metropolitan area.
