Maynilad cleans 272 km of sewer lines, achieves 54% of 2024 target in first half

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. cleaned 272 kilometers of sewer lines during the first half of 2024, reaching 54 percent of its 500-kilometer full-year target, the company said on Monday, Oct. 7.

In a statement, the Metro Pacific-controlled firm said regular sewer line cleaning ensures efficient wastewater transport from households to treatment plants, where it undergoes processing to meet environmental standards before discharge.

“Regular maintenance of our sewer lines is essential to preventing issues that could impact public health,” Maynilad wastewater management division head Zmel Grabillo said. “Our commitment to cleaning and maintaining our sewerage systems ensures that wastewater is effectively managed and treated, in line with our mandate to provide reliable services to our customers.”

Maynilad provides sewer line maintenance services in “sewered areas,” including parts of Manila, Quezon City, Muntinlupa, Makati, Pasay, and Parañaque.  In “unsewered areas,” the company offers septic tank desludging services at no extra cost to customers.

As the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines, Maynilad serves the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area. This zone covers major cities in Metro Manila, including Manila, Caloocan, Quezon City, Makati, and Pasay, along with parts of Cavite Province. 

These cleaning efforts play a vital role in safeguarding public health and protecting the environment.
