The survey, which gathered insights from more than 900 respondents across different industries nationwide, aimed to identify the key factors contributing to job satisfaction for Filipino workers.
When asked about how satisfied they were with their job, 85 percent of respondents shared a neutral or positive answer, which translated to an overall Happiness Index Score of 4.52 over a total of seven points with seven being the most positive. This is significantly higher than the 68 percent in the 2017 survey.
Key factors contributing to the rise in satisfaction include work mobility, work-life balance, and inclusive work environments.
WFH setup a positive influence
Employees working remotely or in work-from-home (WFH) setups showed higher satisfaction levels, scoring 4.82 on job satisfaction and 4.92 on work-life balance. As WFH arrangements become more common, these flexible setups have been identified as a positive influence on the overall Job Happiness Index.
Geographically, workers from Mindanao led in satisfaction with a score of 4.59, while those from the National Capital Region (NCR) scored the lowest at 4.46, mainly due to challenges like heavy traffic and long commutes.
Gen Zers score the lowest
Generational differences were also evident in the survey, with Gen Z employees (aged 23-27) scoring the lowest at 4.28, suggesting a growing divide in work culture and work-life balance expectations between younger and older employees.
The survey also revealed that married or partnered employees were generally happier, scoring 4.60 compared to their single counterparts who scored 4.46. This indicates that a good work-life balance contributes to job satisfaction, particularly in balancing personal relationships with careers.
