The launch of URC’s new flour mill in Sariaya boosts production to 3,470 tons per day, solidifying its position as the Philippines’ top flour producer. With over 104,100 bags daily, the facility ensures a steady premium flour supply to support food production, particularly in South Luzon communities.
“[T]his new facility represents a significant step forward in building an agricultural industry that truly serves our people, consistent with the goal of His Excellency President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.,” said Gokongwei, the chair of URC.
“Moreover, it is a testimony to URC’s commitment to being a responsible, forward-thinking leader within the agricultural landscape, upholding the values that guide us: prioritizing people, taking ownership of sustainable practices, embracing innovation, and advancing with agility and determination,” he added.
The P5.4-billion investment highlights URC’s confidence in the Philippine economy and its supportive investment environment.
“By significantly increasing our milling capacity and adopting cutting-edge technology, this facility ensures more efficient flour production, which translates to reduced costs for end-users,” Gokongwei said.
“This efficiency not only supports food security but also contributes to stabilizing commodity prices, mitigating inflationary pressures, and ultimately making essential goods more affordable for Filipino families,” he added.
The event was also attended by Secretary Frederick Go, Mayor Marcelo Gayeta and Mrs. Marivic Gayeta, Congressman David Suarez, and Vice Governor Anacleto Alcala III.
“We look forward to the positive and enduring impact of this facility as URC continues to set new standards of excellence in flour production, contributing meaningfully to the progress of our host community in Sariaya, the province of Quezon, and the nation as a whole,” said Gokongwei.
