The membership allows the automaker to work with industry stakeholders on policies, programs, and standards that support the development of the Philippine automotive sector.
Why it matters
The move comes months after GAC Philippines completed its transition into a wholly owned local subsidiary of GAC International, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the Philippine market.
"Joining CAMPI is a significant honor and a pivotal chapter for our operations. We are eager to leverage this partnership to accelerate our growth in the Philippine market,” GAC International senior vice president Steven Wang said.
“As we continue re-consolidating our presence in the country, this membership underscores our deep-rooted commitment to providing Filipinos with world-class engineering and a comprehensive, future-ready automotive experience," Wang added.
The backdrop
GAC Philippines adopted the "ONE GAC" strategy earlier this year, integrating GAC MOTOR, AION, and HYPTEC under a single operating structure to streamline sales, aftersales, and customer support, the company said in a release.
The company said it operates 30 dealerships nationwide, supported by a local parts warehouse and aftersales services for both internal combustion engine and electric vehicle models.
What's next
CAMPI is the country's leading automotive industry association and regularly engages with government agencies on issues affecting vehicle manufacturing, distribution, and regulation.
For GAC Philippines, the membership positions the company to participate more directly in industry discussions as it continues to expand its presence in the Philippine automotive market. — Princess Daisy C. Ominga | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
