Insider Spotlight
The Eado Plus enters a competitive compact sedan segment where buyers increasingly prioritize connectivity, safety, and value. Inchcape is leaning on Changan’s global scale and product credibility to differentiate, especially as mobility preferences shift toward feature-rich but accessible vehicles.
Driving the news
The model combines a 1.5-liter Bluecore gasoline engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, positioning it as a balance between efficiency and performance. Inside, higher variants feature a 10-inch infotainment system with wireless smartphone integration, while both trims emphasize usability with digital displays and cabin air filtration systems.
Why it matters
Affordability remains central. The Eado Plus carries a suggested retail price of P799,999 for the Luxe variant and P750,000 for the Lite variant, with limited-time introductory prices dropping to P749,999 and P699,000, respectively. This pricing strategy reflects intensifying competition in the entry sedan space, where automakers are under pressure to deliver more features without increasing costs.
Between the lines
Changan’s global footprint—spanning R&D hubs across Europe, Asia, and the United States—is being leveraged to strengthen brand perception in the Philippines. The launch also aligns with a broader pivot toward intelligent and low-carbon mobility solutions.
What’s next
With nationwide availability starting March 25, Inchcape is expected to monitor early demand closely, particularly as price-sensitive consumers weigh new entrants against established Japanese and Korean competitors in the segment. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
