MMPC president and CEO Ritsu Imaeda held separate meetings with Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Batangas District Collector Carmelita Talusan and Department of Trade and Industry-Board of Investments (DTI-BOI) Executive Director Corazon Halili-Dichosa, highlighting the company's efforts to strengthen collaboration with agencies that play a vital role in the country's automotive industry.
The big picture
The discussions underscored MMPC's longstanding partnership with the Bureau of Customs Port of Batangas, one of the country's primary gateways for imported vehicles and automotive components.
As one of the Philippines' largest vehicle importers, the company said close coordination with the bureau helps facilitate efficient trade while supporting its business operations and supply chain.
The meeting with the DTI-BOI also reflected MMPC's alignment with the government's industrial development agenda, particularly initiatives aimed at strengthening the local automotive manufacturing sector.
Why it matters
The company said it continues to support the government's vehicle electrification programs, with plans already in the pipeline for the local production of hybrid electric vehicles.
The move signals MMPC's intention to expand its manufacturing footprint in the country while contributing to the transition toward cleaner mobility solutions.
"Constructive engagement with our government stakeholders remains important as we continue to contribute to the growth of the Philippine automotive industry," Imaeda said in a press release.
"We value the opportunity to exchange insights with our partners in government and explore ways to support shared economic and industrial objectives," he added.
By the numbers
MMPC operates a 23-hectare manufacturing facility in Sta. Rosa, Laguna with an annual production capacity of 50,000 units.
The plant currently assembles the Mirage, Mirage G4, and L300 models for the local market.
The company said it remains the country's longest-operating automotive manufacturer and currently holds the second-largest market share in the Philippine automotive industry, reflecting its continued focus on local manufacturing and customer service. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
