Holy Week remains a deeply observed period across the country, with millions traveling for family reunions, religious reflection, and short breaks. The latest data signals how travel behavior continues to evolve while staying rooted in tradition.
By the numbers
Domestic travel dominates, accounting for 82 percent of total bookings, while only 18 percent of travelers are heading overseas. The figures highlight a strong preference for staying within the Philippines during peak holiday periods.
Manila as hubMore than half, or 55 percent, of bookings originate from Manila, reinforcing its role as the country’s primary gateway. Travelers are largely composed of working professionals and students returning to their home provinces.
The data, from a company release, underscores how booking patterns reflect both cultural priorities and practical travel decisions during the Holy Week rush.
Destinations
From Manila, 40 percent of travelers are flying to Cebu, Iloilo, and Tacloban to reconnect with family.
At the same time, 17 percent are opting for leisure trips to Boracay and Puerto Princesa, while 9 percent are heading to nearby international destinations such as Taipei and Kuala Lumpur.
Travel behavior
Solo travel leads at 56 percent, followed by couples at 18 percent, families with children at 15 percent, and groups of friends at 11 percent. Trips are generally short, with 40 percent lasting three to four days and 26 percent extending to five to six days.
Planning ahead
Booking behavior shows strong forward planning, with 29 percent securing trips 15 to 30 days in advance and 22 percent booking one to two months ahead. Last-minute bookings remain minimal at just 2 percent.
