Emperador Q1 earnings grow despite fuel volatility, Middle East conflict

Insider Spotlight

  • Emperador grew profits despite fuel volatility, inflation and geopolitical tensions.
  • Whisky and brandy demand remained resilient across both Philippine and overseas markets.
  • The liquor giant leaned on premium products and tighter cost controls to protect margins.

Tycoon Andrew Tan-backed Emperador Inc. delivered resilient first quarter earnings as steady demand for whisky and brandy helped offset rising geopolitical and economic uncertainty across global markets.

Revenues rose nearly 10 percent to P13.3 billion from P12.13 billion a year earlier, while net profit climbed 2 percent to P1.9 billion from P1.86 billion despite inflation, fuel volatility and supply chain disruptions.

Net profit attributable to equity holders meanwhile increased 4.5 percent as Emperador leaned on tighter cost controls, operational efficiencies and a more favorable premium product mix to defend margins.

“Our first quarter performance demonstrates the resilience of our businesses and the strength of our diversified portfolio,” president and CEO Glenn Manlapaz said in a statement on Wednesday.

Brandy and whisky demand holds firm

Brandy and whisky sales rose 6 percent during the quarter as Emperador continued benefiting from stable domestic demand and broader geographic diversification overseas.

The company’s international operations also helped cushion pressure from slower global consumer spending and continued uncertainty in international trade and energy markets.

“Looking ahead, Emperador remains cautiously optimistic for the remainder of 2026,

supported by strong fundamentals, strategic investments, and continued efforts to enhance operational resilience across its businesses,” Emperador said.

The company owns brands including Emperador Brandy, Fundador and single malt whiskies The Dalmore, Jura, Fettercairn and Tamnavulin, with products distributed across around 100 countries worldwide.
