Tycoon Lucio Co’s The Keepers Holdings Inc., the country’s biggest liquor importer, is entering the Philippine premium spirits market with the purchase of a major stake in the maker of the award-winning SULÀ brand.

The Keepers disclosed on Wednesday the purchase of a 50-percent stake in Cervia Global Trading Inc. for P40 million.

“The acquisition of a 50-percent stake in Cervia Global Trading Inc. gives The Keepers Holdings Inc. a strategic entry point into the premium local spirits market, while also positioning the company for growth in international markets,” the liquor giant said.

The purchase price was based on the revenue potential of the business, it added.

SULÀ is a proudly Filipino premium liqueur brand by Cervia Global Trading Inc., known for small-batch spirits made from locally sourced ingredients.

Its flagship coconut liqueur boasts a 4.9 out of 5 customer rating and has earned international acclaim, including a Gold Medal at the International Spirits Challenge and honors at the World Liqueur Awards.
