The move underscores the company’s push to align with tougher safety and quality standards as regulators tighten oversight of the vital fuel.
“We are honored to be recognized as a center of safety and excellence in the LPG sector, an industry we are proud to lead through our trusted flagship brands, Petron Gasul and Fiesta Gas,” said Petron vice president for industrial sales Virgilio Centeno.
“This certification affirms our unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and quality in every aspect of our LPG business,” he added.
The accreditation, awarded on Sept. 25 at the DOE’s Taguig headquarters, allows Petron to certify qualified service persons across its refinery, terminals, haulers, dealers, and retail network.
The accreditation reinforces the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Industry Regulation Act (LIRA), which pushes for stricter standards and penalties in the sector. All LPG personnel trained by Petron will now be DOE-certified, with the first sessions set for dealers and retailers in Ormoc, Leyte.
