In his State of the Nation Address on Monday, Marcos said the government has begun developing hydrogen power projects and is confident nuclear energy can strengthen the country’s energy security and help bring down power prices.
He said the government would ensure any future nuclear energy program is safe and that its benefits are properly explained to the public.

Marcos also asked Congress to pass the proposed Sariling Kuryente Act, which he said would make it simpler, easier and more affordable for households to install solar panels and battery storage systems.
He then called for the immediate amendment of EPIRA to prohibit power companies from passing system losses on to consumers, including the value-added tax imposed on those charges. “
We demand the immediate amendment of the EPIRA and to prohibit charging system losses against consumers including the value-added tax thereon,” Marcos said.
He argued consumers should not bear costs arising from system losses because these are not their fault.
