Insider Spotlight
The global capability center is redefining what a best-in-class workplace means, using a people-first strategy to fuel its expanding regional footprint.
This commitment to cultivating a thriving, inclusive environment was recently recognized, with SLGS securing triple honors in the Circle of Excellence at the 16th Asia CEO Awards 2025 held last Oct. 14 at the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Manila.
Sun Life has entered the Circle of Excellence in three categories: Top Employer of the Year, Diversity Company of the Year, and Woman Leader of the Year.
Culture as a cornerstone
SLGS emphasizes a five-dimensional Wellness Framework covering Physical, Mental & Emotional, Social, Financial, and Meaning & Purpose. This comprehensive approach is coupled with tangible actions, like offering a flexible hybrid work model and incorporating inclusive office design to ensure balance and accessibility.
The big picture
For the second consecutive year, SLGS announced in a press release that it has made it to the Circle of Excellence, underscoring its consistent reputation for shaping the future of work in the region.
Leaders with purpose
Tarun Sareen, managing director of Sun Life Global Solutions, highlighted the significance of the distinction, sharing, "We are honored to join the Circle of Excellence at Asia CEO Awards, recognizing our efforts towards fostering diversity, people-centricity and leadership." He added that the inclusion is a "testament to our unwavering commitment to building a workplace where people thrive, feel valued, and are empowered to lead with Purpose."
Driving the change
Nathalie Bernardo, vice president and site head, SLGS Philippines, who joined the Circle of Excellence for Woman Leader of the Year, has been instrumental in the cultural transformation.
Impact beyond the office
Bernardo attributes the success to a combination of core values and decisive action. "We have been able to break boundaries through collaboration, pursue lasting value with courage, and drive excellence with discipline and accountability," she noted.
The bottom line
Through talent programs like iLEAD, Catalyst, and Sun Risers, SLGS is actively developing leadership and career paths across all levels. This focused internal investment ensures that, as SLGS expands, its commitment to innovation, belonging, and purpose-driven leadership remains unwavering, proving that its people are truly its greatest strength. — Princess Daisy C.
