While the modernization isn’t fully complete until later this year, early returns show clear momentum as the venue reclaims its position as the country’s top destination for large-scale events.
More than half of its 2024 events were anchored on live concerts, sports, and family entertainment, tapping into pent-up demand for in-person experiences.
Management’s view
“Live entertainment venues are strategic contributors to our company’s portfolio. They strengthen the SM ecosystem by driving foot traffic and supporting the performance of our mall tenants and adjacent businesses,” said SM Prime Holdings president Jeffrey C. Lim.
Arena refresh
The rest were corporate and special events, reinforcing the Arena’s importance in the MICE and tourism sectors.
Recent upgrades include digital turnstiles, new spectator seating, and a massive 702-square meter LED Media Mesh to improve guest experience.
Located in the heart of the MOA Complex, the Arena also benefits from its integration with SM’s retail and hospitality assets.
In 2024, it won Sports Venue of the Year at the Philippine Sports Tourism Awards, a nod to its broader economic contribution.
What’s next?
Concerts from Itzy, December Avenue, and Regine Velasquez highlighted the year’s entertainment roster.
The Arena also hosted international sports events and is already seeing strong bookings for 2025. Acts like j-hope, Mariah Carey, and Jo Koy are among those lined up, signaling another strong year ahead.
