SEC extends discounted fees for MSME business registration until March 31

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has extended discounted filing fees for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), giving small firms more time to register at lower cost.

The SEC extended the 20 percent discount on corporate registration fees until March 31 and the 50 percent discount on securities registration fees until June 30, a statement on Monday showed.

The SEC said the 50 percent discount also covers securities registered through its streamlined processes for power generation and distribution utility companies, real estate developers and/or managers for rental pool deals, agri-business firms, and hospitals.

Under Republic Act No. 9501, MSMEs are classified by asset size, with micro enterprises having assets of up to P3 million, small firms up to P15 million, and medium enterprises up to P100 million.

Big savings for small business owners

Since lower rates were introduced in July under MC No. 8, Series of 2025, the SEC said it has granted around P34.5 million worth of registration and filing fee discounts to 15,425 small businesses by the end of 2025.

“The SEC is entering the new year with a renewed commitment to support the expansion of MSMEs, given their crucial role in driving the country’s economic growth,” SEC chair Francis Lim said.

“The discounted corporate registration and filing fees will help ease the cost of compliance and encourage more entrepreneurs to formalize and tap the capital market for the expansion of their businesses,” he added.
