Even tycoon Enrique Razon Jr.’s ports megacorporation, International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), was not spared from the widespread IT outages affecting countless businesses around the world.
ICTSI executive vice president Christian R. Gonzalez said their global operations, including the Manila International Container Terminal, were disrupted for a few hours on Friday afternoon.
He said that the issue was swiftly resolved, and while there was some backlog in operations, this was “nothing serious.”
“We’ve told those who can come tomorrow to just come tomorrow,” Gonzalez told InsiderPH.
It would have been a different scenario had the glitch happened years ago, before appointments were available.
“If this happened 10 years ago, when we didn’t have appointments and everyone forced the issue on Fridays, it would be a nightmare,” he added.
The outages, which affected devices using Microsoft applications, were later linked to a misconfigured or corrupted software update from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, which is also widely used in the banking sector.
