Insider Spotlight
The initiative will transform Peza’s existing Sustainability Reporting Guide for Exporters (SuRGE), which is based on Global Reporting Initiative standards, into a streamlined digital reporting system powered by Zeroboard’s platform.
The move comes as companies face growing pressure from regulators, investors, and global supply chain partners to improve Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosures.
Why it matters
Sustainability reporting is becoming an increasingly important requirement for exporters seeking access to international markets.
By digitizing the reporting process, Peza aims to make ESG compliance more efficient, accessible, and scalable for enterprises operating within its economic zones.
Zeroboard’s platform enables organizations to collect, manage, visualize, and disclose ESG-related information, including greenhouse gas emissions data. The company said its technology supports sustainability reporting, regulatory compliance, and decarbonization initiatives across Asia.
The details
The collaboration will focus on several areas, including the digitalization of the SuRGE framework, ESG education and awareness programs for Peza locators, pilot implementation support, and the promotion of sustainability reporting aligned with international standards.
The partners also plan to foster greater collaboration between Philippine and Japanese stakeholders through networking and ecosystem-building activities.
A formal launch event is scheduled for June 4 at Seda Nuvali in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The gathering will bring together C-suite executives, sustainability leaders, government officials, and industry representatives to discuss ESG reporting, sustainable trade, and Philippine-Japanese cooperation on sustainability initiatives.
What’s next
Among the expected speakers are Peza Deputy Director General for Policy and Planning Emmanuel Cortero, METI Senior Director for Energy and Environmental Policy Masafumi Sugano, and Japan External Trade Organization Manila Executive Director Takashi Goto.
