Barely a day after marrying retail tycoon and Puregold heir Vincent Co, Alonzo was back in front of the cameras for a scheduled endorsement shoot.
Alonzo and Co tied the knot in a private civil ceremony at Makati City Hall on Monday, July 13, with Makati Mayor Nancy Binay officiating.
The next morning, Alonzo called her then-manager Shirley Kuan, who said she had been completely unaware of the wedding despite receiving blind items about it the night before.
“The first thing she told me was, ‘It’s true,’” Kuan said in an emotional interview about the events surrounding their eventual professional split earlier this month.
Kuan was working at a separate photoshoot the morning after the wedding before heading to Alonzo’s shoot that afternoon.
By the time she arrived, Alonzo was already in front of the photographer as news of the surprise marriage began circulating publicly.
Kuan disclosed the episode in a deeply personal interview about her split with Alonzo. She also denied meddling in the actress’ wedding plans, including the destination wedding in Spain originally set for last May before it was called off.
