Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has announced on Wednesday, Oct. 30, that it will remain on full alert throughout the All Saints Day break to address any potential electricity service disruptions.

Crews and personnel will be available 24/7 to respond to issues despite Meralco business centers being closed on Nov. 1 and 2, the country’s largest power distributor and retailer said in a statement.

“We are one with the nation in observing All Saints’ Day and All Souls Day. While Meralco Business Centers will be closed from Nov. 1 to 2, we assure our customers that Meralco crews and personnel will be on standby 24/7 to respond to any troubles and concerns related to our facilities,” Meralco vice president and head of corporate communications Joe Zaldarriaga said.

In addition to holiday preparations, Meralco continues to monitor the developments of Super Typhoon Leon (international name: Kong-Rey), following the impact of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami).

Meralco has urged the public to observe key electrical safety practices over the holiday period. These include turning off appliances when not in use, avoiding “octopus connections,” ensuring electrical equipment is dry, and keeping wires away from combustible materials.

For assistance during power outages, customers can contact Meralco through its hotline 16211 or reach out via social media platforms .
