Located in Laguna, VITRO Sta. Rosa is operated by ePLDT’s VITRO Inc., the data center arm of the PLDT group.
The 115-kilovolt (kV) switching station, the first in Meralco’s franchise area dedicated to a data center, is designed to support a 50-megawatt (MW) power demand. This infrastructure provides crucial redundancy and reliability essential for the high-stakes operations of a hyperscale data center.
“VITRO Sta. Rosa is not just another data center—it’s a facility designed to welcome hyperscalers and accelerate the country’s adoption of AI,” said Victor S. Genuino, ePLDT and VITRO Inc. president and CEO, at the station’s ceremonial inauguration.
Highlighting the significance of the project, Genuino noted that it will bolster sectors like telecommunications, finance, healthcare, and government services.
Meralco executive vice president and COO Ronnie L. Aperocho emphasized the station’s redundancy features, ensuring uninterrupted data center operations, critical in minimizing potential outages.
This collaboration with VITRO Sta. Rosa, he said, aligns Meralco with the government’s aim to position the Philippines as a hyperscale industry hub, contributing to sustainable national economic development.
