The Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) strongly supports the renewal of Manila Electric Co.'s (Meralco) franchise, ensuring reliable electricity crucial for businesses and Filipinos’ well-being.
In a statement on Thursday, the MAP said it recognized Meralco's commitment to green energy, actively championing the government’s renewable energy goals.
The energy distribution giant also leads in customer choice programs under the Electric Power Industry Reform Act, with a 65 percent participation rate in the retail market.
The company also implemented the country’s largest smart meter program, providing prepaid electricity service to nearly 100,000 customers.
Meralco's operational efficiency meets or exceeds the Energy Regulatory Commission's standards, with system loss rates among the lowest nationwide.
Additionally, its social responsibility initiatives include the Lifeline Rate Program and discounts for senior citizens, the MAP said.
