Maya, the country’s leading all-in-one finance platform, was named Apex Company of the Year at the 2025 Asia CEO Awards, honoring its transformative role in reshaping how Filipinos access payments and banking through technology.

The prestigious award recognizes organizations that deliver exceptional economic and social impact. Maya was commended for its commitment to making finance simpler, more inclusive, and more efficient for millions of Filipinos. The company also received a Circle of Excellence citation for Technology Company of the Year, following its 2023 recognition as Most Innovative Company of the Year.

Rebuilding banking for the digital generation

For decades, traditional banking in the Philippines has relied on physical branches and lengthy processes that left many young, digital-savvy Filipinos underserved. Maya changed that paradigm.

“Our mission has always been to reimagine how banking works for Filipinos,” said Shailesh Baidwan, Maya Group president and co-founder of Maya Bank. “This recognition affirms that technology can drive both economic value and meaningful social impact.”

Technology as the core advantage

“Maya builds technology that can see, learn, and respond in real time,” said Alfred Lo, Maya Group chief technology officer. “That’s how we make financial services faster, safer, and more personal.”

With one of the largest fintech and data teams in the Philippines, Maya operates on an AI-first, cloud-first infrastructure, enabling instant credit evaluation, personalized offers, and continuous innovation.

Driving inclusion and national impact

Beyond technology, Maya champions financial inclusion by empowering MSMEs, advancing digital literacy, and partnering with institutions such as the Department of Education and the Philippine Sports Commission.

Through these initiatives, Maya continues to bridge opportunity gaps and strengthen the nation’s digital financial ecosystem—one Filipino at a time. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
