The Luzon power grid set a new record for the highest peak load in 2024, reaching 14,016 megawatts (MW) at 2:54 p.m. on Wednesday, surpassing the previous record of 13,864 MW set just a day earlier on Tuesday.

According to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, this significant increase exceeds the projected peak load for this year by 99 MW.

The consecutive days of record-breaking demand highlight growing energy requirements in the country.

Industry experts also point out that the consistent escalation in peak load underscores the urgent need for enhancing power infrastructure and exploring sustainable energy solutions to accommodate the increasing electricity consumption across the Philippines.
