Gaisano's MRSGI expands Metro Value Mart to tackle rising costs

Metro Retail Stores Group Inc. (MRSGI) is doubling down on its expansion strategy with the growth of its Metro Value Mart format as households deal with rising living expenses.

This neighborhood grocery concept is designed to offer affordable and convenient access to essential goods, addressing the pressing needs of communities nationwide.

With five stores already operating in key locations across Cavite and Cebu, MRSGI is transitioning additional branches into the Metro Value Mart format as part of its broader effort to modernize offerings and adapt to evolving consumer needs.

Management’s view

“Metro Value Mart is central to our vision of making shopping more convenient and accessible for Filipino families,” said Manuel Alberto, president and chief operating officer of MRSGI. 

“By locating our stores in the heart of communities, we bring everyday essentials closer to home while maintaining the value and quality that customers expect from the Metro brand,” he added.

Filling the market gap

The Metro Value Mart fills the gap between convenience stores and larger supermarkets, offering a curated selection of fresh produce, household essentials, and quality products that cater to everyday needs.

Operating 70 branches nationwide under various formats, including Metro Supermarket and Metro Department Store, MRSGI continues to diversify its portfolio while maintaining its commitment to sustainable growth.
