Under the agreement signed on Nov.14, Colours Town Center will source 600 kilowatts (kW) of electricity from the Pantabangan-Casecnan hydroelectric power plants in Nueva Ecija, operated by Lopez-owned First Gen. This renewable energy source will power the mall’s operations, significantly reducing its carbon footprint.
The deal is Colours Town Center owner Kyleson Inc.’s first energy supply agreement since qualifying for the government’s Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) program in October 2024. RCOA allows qualified electricity consumers with at least 500 kW peak demand to choose their own power suppliers.
“We’re very excited for our partnership with First Gen. This is a big step for us in helping the environment and adopting renewable energy. We look forward to many more years of being partners,” said Kingson Chan, Kyleson corporate secretary.
Aside from retail shops and dining establishments, the center hosts a Regus flexible workspace and office center.
First Gen vice president Carlo Vega emphasized the collaboration’s environmental and economic benefits. “Colours Town Center will operate on clean, renewable hydroelectric power, lowering electricity costs and supporting Kyleson’s decarbonization goals,” he said.
First Gen is the Philippines’ leading renewable energy producer, with 1,651 MW of capacity from hydro, solar, wind, and geothermal plants, further advancing the country’s energy security and sustainability.
