BPI Capital wins at Alpha Southeast Asia’s Best Deal & ESG Green Finance Awards

Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), through its investment banking subsidiary, BPI Capital Corp., secured multiple accolades at the 18th Annual Best Deal & Solution Awards and ESG Green Finance Awards 2024, presented by Alpha Southeast Asia.

BPI Capital’s clients earned five prestigious awards for three groundbreaking sustainable debt transactions, reinforcing the bank’s status as a leader in investment banking and responsible finance in the region.

Among the standout deals, ACEN Corp. 's P11-billion Sustainability-Linked Loan (SLL), co-funded by BPI and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), won the Most Innovative Deal in Southeast Asia award. This transaction, the first-ever SLL in the Philippines, supports ACEN’s renewable energy expansion, which now spans 6.8 GW in operational and committed projects.

Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) also received two major recognitions—Best Sustainability-Linked Transaction and Best Local Currency Bond Deal of the Year in Southeast Asia—for its P6-billion and P8-billion Sustainability-Linked Bonds, where BPI Capital played a crucial role as joint Lead underwriter and bookrunner.

Meanwhile, Maynilad Water Services Inc.  bagged two awards—Best Blue Bond in Southeast Asia and Most Innovative Deal of the Year —for its P15-billion five- and 10-year Blue Bonds,  issued with BPI Capital as the sole issue manager, joint lead underwriter, and bookrunner. 

BPI Capital president Junie Veloso highlighted the firm’s dedication to integrating sustainability in its financial solutions. “Guided by BPI’s mission and values, we are committed to responsible banking by structuring impactful financial solutions that drive environmental and social change,” Veloso stated.
