An Insider Info report indicated that Metro Pacific leaders were considering other roles for Perez with the infrastructure giant, whose businesses include energy, water, and healthcare.
In the end, he was chosen to lead as president of MPTC and COO while Pangilinan, who holds the CEO title in affiliates such as PLDT Inc. and Manila Electric Co., stepped in as the chief executive.
Apart from its domestic operations, MPTC is also growing its operations in Indonesia and Vietnam.
