In a press briefing on March 26, 2025 in Makati City, officials said the launch signals an expansion of the company’s hospitality footprint, targeting high-net-worth individuals seeking premium, multi-location lifestyle offerings.
“Balesin Key is more than a membership; it’s our members’ passport to three extraordinary worlds that provide a complete lifestyle,” Balesin spokesperson Joanna Ongpin Duarte said. “This new share allows members access to the tropical island escapes on Balesin Island, the cosmopolitan elegance of Balesin City, and the mountain serenity in Balesin Pines.
“Our members can experience seamless luxury across our three distinct properties with just one key,” she added.
Balesin City — formerly known as The City Club — is positioned as an upscale urban hub that combines business and leisure. Located in Makati, it includes event venues, specialty restaurants, business lounges, and wellness facilities such as indoor golf, pickleball courts, and Pilates studios.
Balesin Pines, the newest addition, offers a mountainside retreat equipped with 18 luxury suites, a gym, and the Leea Spa. The property is designed as a sanctuary for members seeking relaxation in a cooler, nature-driven environment.
Meanwhile, the original Balesin Island continues to evolve with upgrades to its villas, redesigned by head of design Rico Sison. New amenities include a revitalized 38.5-meter superyacht and additional water-based excursions such as the “Secret Beach” and “Turtle Cove” tours. The island also supports various water sports and features an ongoing coral reef rehabilitation program.
Culinary offerings have also been updated across several on-island restaurants. Menus at Bali Warung, Costa del Sol Casa Grande, and Han-Gang Mama Lee now feature new regional dishes, while local favorites like kilawin remain mainstays at the Clubhouse Dining and Fish Fun.
At the same time, Alphaland emphasized sustainability with a solar farm scheduled to go online by September, expected to supply up to 60 percent of the island’s energy requirements. In April, Hiraya Farm will open for tours, highlighting farm-to-table experiences supported by a partnership with Gourmet Farms.
Alain Borgers, Alphaland’s executive vice president for hospitality, leads the group’s service strategy, drawing on over four decades of industry experience.
With Balesin Key, members can now access a wider array of leisure and lifestyle options under a single program, aligning with Alphaland’s strategy of blending luxury with long-term sustainability, the company said.
