The commencement, held at VITRO Santa Rosa, the Philippines’ first AI-ready hyperscale data center, honored 40 graduates who completed advanced training designed to prepare them for careers in the rapidly expanding data center industry.
Academy built on collaboration
VITRO Academy was developed in partnership with Asia Pacific College, Ateneo de Naga University, Far Eastern University–Roosevelt, National University, and Wesleyan University of the Philippines.
The program provides aspiring engineers a direct pathway from classroom training to internship and eventual employment. Since its launch, it has trained over 400 students across three progressive levels, with only the most outstanding advancing to Level 3, the final stage.
From training to career opportunities
From this first cohort of 40, 35 graduates will proceed to paid internships, while the top six performers will be offered employment at VITRO Inc.. Leading the class is Chrishiel Paige Villanueva of Asia Pacific College, who earned the distinction of top notcher.
“By cultivating homegrown talent, VITRO is ensuring the Philippines has the expertise needed to sustain the growth of its digital infrastructure sector,” said Victor S. Genuino, president and CEO of ePLDT and VITRO Inc.
Driving digital transformation
In his address, Genuino emphasized that building a digitally inclusive and globally competitive Philippines requires more than infrastructure—it requires skilled people.
“You are not just joining a profession; you are joining a mission to make the Philippines a true leader in the digital world,” he told graduates.
The graduation of VITRO Academy’s first batch underscores its role in strengthening the country’s talent pipeline, producing employment-ready engineers to support the sustainable growth of data centers—a vital enabler of the Philippines’ digital transformation. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
