Located in Laguna, the data center was developed by VITRO Inc., a subsidiary of ePLDT, and is now operational—serving telecom companies, enterprises, and global cloud providers.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who led the inauguration, called the facility “an investment in the future of every Filipino.”
“The inauguration of VSR signals the country’s readiness to attract the world’s largest technology companies and showcase our regional competitiveness in the digital space. More than that, this technological development is an investment in the future of every Filipino,” President Marcos said.
PLDT chair and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan said the company intends to expand capacity to 500 megawatts—comparable to the current scale in Malaysia—to position the Philippines as a regional data hub.
“We do intend to expand our data center capability for up to 500 MW. We have to be at least equal to the capacity of Malaysia…You have our pledge, Mr. President, to make the Philippines a data center hub,” Pangilinan said.
The facility features NVIDIA-powered GPU servers that deliver GPU as a Service (GPUaaS), allowing businesses to access AI computing tools on demand without needing to invest in their own high-cost infrastructure.
VSR is connected to PLDT’s national fiber network and international cable systems like Jupiter, Asia Direct Cable, and the upcoming Apricot, ensuring strong, fast links across the globe.
Its carrier-neutral setup allows multiple telecom providers to connect, offering businesses more flexibility and network resilience.
As AI adoption accelerates, the VSR facility boosts the country’s digital infrastructure and strengthens its appeal to global tech investors.
