  • “Grow Beyond UR Job” program anchors company’s people strategy
  • Time and Statista also named URC among Asia-Pacific’s best firms

Universal Robina Corp.  (URC), one of the Philippines’ largest food and beverage companies, has been recognized for its workplace culture and employer branding efforts, bagging the Silver Award for Excellence in Employer Branding at the 2025 Economic Times Human Capital Awards Southeast Asia in Singapore.

Why it matters:

The award affirms URC’s positioning as an employer of choice, reflecting its ongoing commitment to people development and inclusive workplace practices.

Driving the recognition:

“This affirms our ongoing efforts to be an employer of choice by placing people at the center of URC’s success,” said Irwin Lee, URC president and CEO. “This award highlights the strength of our culture - where people are empowered to lead, grow, and succeed with purpose.”

At the heart of URC’s employee development efforts is its “Grow Beyond UR Job” program, a collaboration among HR representatives from the company’s Philippine and international operations. The initiative has evolved into a cornerstone of URC’s talent acquisition, onboarding, employee recognition, and leadership communications.

The mindset shift:

“What started as a message has become a mindset,” Lee said. “Grow beyond UR job has become a cultural foundation that drives how we build careers, celebrate potential, and grow leaders from within.”

He added: “It reflects our belief that growth happens when people are trusted to lead, equipped to stretch, and inspired to make a difference.”

Big picture:

The recognition comes on top of another accolade for URC. Earlier this year, Time magazine and online data firm Statista named the company among the Asia-Pacific’s best 500 companies of 2025, citing robust employee satisfaction programs as a key factor.

That list was compiled from a 2023 survey of over 50,000 employees across the Asia-Pacific, underscoring URC’s growing reputation as a people-focused employer. —Ed: Ramon C. Nocon
