A major initiative is the construction of a 2.65-kilometer road connecting the Port of Matadi to the Kinkanda traffic circle via SEP Congo and RN14.
The first phase was completed in June last year, while the second phase, starting in February 2025, will extend the road east from MGT to the RN14-SEP Congo entrance.
“Upon completion, the improved roadway is expected to reduce container dwell times and streamline cargo deliveries for trucking companies. It will also help alleviate congestion in the western part of Matadi, benefiting both the terminal and the surrounding local community,” ICTSI said in a statement.
MGT is also expanding its storage yard to accommodate increasing cargo volumes and ensure smoother operations.
To further enhance accessibility, MGT is extending its parking area and constructing a pedestrian walkway for safer terminal access.
