The November 4 appointment puts Jacob, in his mid 20s, alongside his siblings Cecile Ang, who manages the family’s airport interests, and older brother John Paul Ang, who also serves as president and chief operating officer of San Miguel Corp.
The move gives the younger Ang a seat in one of the conglomerate's established consumer businesses, expanding his responsibilities beyond the group's luxury automotive operations.
Four Angs on the board
Jacob replaces longtime director Leo S. Alvez, whose death was disclosed in September, according to Ginebra's latest stock exchange filing.
His appointment adds another family member to the board as the next generation of Ang executives takes on greater responsibilities across San Miguel's businesses, although the conglomerate has not announced a formal succession plan.
John Paul was also appointed to Ginebra's corporate governance and executive compensation committees, further expanding his responsibilities at the liquor company.
From BMW and Ferrari to Ginebra
Jacob has served as president of SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp., the Philippine distributor of BMW vehicles, since November 2025, while also serving as director and chief planning officer of Ferrari distributor Velocita Motors Inc. since 2023.
He has worked as executive assistant to his father since 2023, the same year he graduated from Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in European Studies.
Jacob also completed a leadership and management development program at the university in 2024.
Other leadership changes
Ginebra appointed Aurora T. Calderon to its audit, risk oversight and sustainability committee, while ratifying Cynthia M. Baroy's appointment as general manager.
The company also named Ariel I. Victoria chief finance officer and treasurer, formalizing a role he had held in an acting capacity since November 2024.
