The official signing took place on May 5 at the Manila Observatory, during Sanicare’s on-ground event titled “Seeds of Care”—a campaign highlighting how small acts of care can lead to lasting environmental impact.
During the event, Bianca Gonzalez-Intal, Sanicare’s resident Care Ambassador and host, announced the milestone, underscoring the brand’s ongoing dedication to reforestation and sustainability.
Renewed commitment, lasting impact
The contract signing between Sanicare and Haribon Foundation marked the continuation of a partnership that began in 2014.
Representing SCPA were Maria Azalea S. Pacis, sales and marketing director, and Jerivic Delos Angeles, product development and procurement manager. From Haribon Foundation, signatories included Arlie Endonila, COO; Thaddeus Martinez, head of the Forests for Life Program; and Erika Bergara, strategic partnerships manager.
With this renewal, Sanicare pledges continued support for reforestation, environmental awareness, and community-led conservation efforts.
The collaboration has already resulted in the planting of over 14,000 native tree seedlings across more than seven hectares, with a remarkable 98 percent survival rate.
Fireside chat sparks real talk on sustainability
A highlight of the Seeds of Care event was a fireside chat between Gonzalez-Intal and Bergara, where they discussed “realistic sustainability.” Bergara emphasized that small lifestyle changes—like using reusable containers or eco bags—can scale into significant environmental wins. She shared that despite Haribon having only 30 staff members, the foundation has helped plant over one million trees in the Philippines.
The conversation inspired an interactive discussion among attendees, including Sanicare’s Care Ambassadors, who shared their own sustainable practices. The event successfully turned passive awareness into a forum for personal accountability and practical solutions.
From words to action
Guests later took part in a seedling preparation activity, guided by Haribon’s experts. Participants potted native seedlings, taking the first step in the reforestation journey—bridging advocacy with direct, tangible action.
The Seeds of Care initiative shows that “planting care” truly can grow change, proving that when brands, communities, and individuals work together, even the smallest efforts can nurture a greener, more sustainable future. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
